Local teacher wins award for excellence in education

Lyndsay Hartman was picked for the Milken foundation award for providing an outstanding performance in the classroom and with her students.
She’s the only one in Nebraska to get one this year, and only 1 in 40 nationwide.
The award is $25,000 and stellar recognition.
Hartmann’s cross–curricular methods using science, English and technology brought her students closer to the love and respect of middle school learning.
“I really see students as their own individual people. As much as you can bring them and their interests into teaching, the easier it is to connect them to the real world and see their place in it, and I’m blessed to be able to do that,” teacher and award winner, Lyndsay Hartmann said.
A favorite of students, Hartmann supports strong teacher–parent communications.
As for the money? She plans to invest in her 2 children’s education.
