Local teenagers searching for summertime jobs
Summer break, pool days and of course, your summer job.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Summer is here and so are all of those teenagers looking for jobs even in a hiring crisis.
“We’re very blessed, we have had a host of people apply,” Charlie Colón, the owner of Chick-Fil-A said. “It probably started about a month before school ended and it’s been that way every summer.”
The Chick-Fil-A near 27th and Pine Lake has seen a wealth of applicants walk through their doors. The majority of those applicants, teenagers, looking for their summer job and some extra pocket money.
“At the beginning of summer everyone is anxious to become employed so they can make some money,” Colón said.
One of those young adults that puts on the red uniform everyday during the summer months is Kirin Dewitt, who has been with the company for six years on and off. She returns every summer to make a paycheck while taking a break from the books.
“I just love that I get the opportunity to do that,” Dewitt said. “Other jobs, I feel like I can’t just leave for a few months and than come back so it’s nice they have been so flexible with me about that.”
Chick-Fil-A says every position seems to be a fan favorite, with a mix of both part and full time positions with different pay structures. The business says unlike other restaurants, they haven’t dealt with the hiring crisis like some have and for that they’re thankful.
