Long range forecast

Severe weather chances?

Jet1 Jet2

Oh where oh where has our severe weather gone?  Actually I’m not complaining.  As I stated last week, our subtropical jet and most of the energy in the U.S. has been concentrated in the southern tier of the U.S.  Will that change anytime soon?  Probably not, BUT, we have a few storms coming our way.  The first one is later this week which will give us a slight chance for precip but the severe weather will stay in the southern U.S. once again.

Now, longer term, there is a vigorous upper level wave for the first week in May which I do believe will trigger off some scattered severe storms a little closer to our area of the midwest.  Obviously, as we get a little closer to that event the details will unfold.

Until then enjoy the mild spring weather that has a good grip on the area.
