LPD: 13-year-old struck by car, driver in custody

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 13-year-old was struck by a 19-year-old driver Wednesday night, reports Lincoln Police.

The incident happened around eight o’clock near 800 W Dawes Ave. According to Lincoln Police, the 19-year-old had planned to fight another woman in the area.

When she arrived, the 19-year-old notice multiple people were there, so she didn’t get out of her car.

According to witness statements, the driver instead drove up and over a curb, hitting the 13-year-old who was not involved in the inciting incident.

The victim only suffered minor injuries and did not need medical attention.

The driver was arrested for second-degree assault and willful reckless driving.
