LPD: 22 cited for DUI during Super Bowl enforcement project in Lincoln
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Officers cited 22 drivers for DUI last weekend during LPD’s Super Bowl enforcement project.
The project, which aimed to curb drunk driving, had officers working overtime from Feb. 7 to 9 amid Super Bowl weekend.
In addition to the DUI citations, two of those drivers were ticketed for driving with a passenger under the age of 16.
Officers also wrote 324 traffic citations on 209 total traffic stops, LPD said in a press release on Friday.
“The Lincoln Police Department will continue to work with our road safety partners to show that driving impaired is not safe and it is not acceptable,” said Sgt. Sara Genoways, the agency’s traffic unit supervisor.
The project was made possible through a grant from the Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Highway Safety Office.
