LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Police found a 9.5-inch Machete was found hanging around a man’s neck during a wellness check.

Wednesday morning, around two o’clock, officers were called to check on a man passed out at U-Stop, 2140 K St.

The man was found laying down in the men’s bathroom. When he was woken up, officers say it was apparent he was drunk. It was decided he would be taken to The Bridge for his safety.

While transferring him, officers found a pipe with suspected meth residue on his person and the 9.5-inch Machete hanging around his neck, hidden under his clothes.

The man was identified as Dennis Nyagesuka. He had previous convictions which made it illegal for him to possess a deadly weapon.

Because of this, Nyagesuka was arrested on drug and weapons charges.
