LPD: Burnt animal feces causes electrical wire damage near downtown Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — An investigation is underway after police say a fire was started at a home near downtown Lincoln.

Just before 9 p.m. Thursday, officers were called to an area near 20th and J streets.

According to LPD, the 26-year-old victim said an unknown person started a fire inside her bedroom window well.

She told officers she only saw the back of the suspect before they left, then saw the flames and quickly ran outside with a cup of water to extinguish the fire.

The officer found burnt electrical wires and what appeared to be burnt animal feces in the well, LPD said.

LPD said they are investigating this incident as arson and the investigation remains ongoing.
