LPD: Car abandoned in park, driver found in nearby bushes

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — On Thursday, just past 1:00 a.m., officers with the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) saw a vehicle driving southbound on N. Cotner Blvd, near Aylesworth Ave.
LPD observed that he vehicle had a headlight out and attempted to stop it. However, the vehicle accelerated at a high rate of speed to escape the officer, who immediately deactivated their lights and siren and did not pursue. After several minutes, LPD drove the area due to concerns that the vehicle may have crashed. It was located at Tyrell Park, near N. 67th and Baldwin Streets.
The vehicle, a Pontiac Fiero, had collided with the curb and driven about 50 yards in the park, where officers found it unoccupied. However, the driver, identified as 44-year-old Dove Shannon, was found crouched in the foliage just south of the vehicle. Shannon had minor injuries, including a cut to her right hand, and found blood on the driver’s side of the vehicle. Officers reported that Shannon appeared to be under the influence of alcohol and located a glass pipe with marijuana residue in the vehicle.
Shannon refused to provide a breathe sample for chemical testing. LPD cited and lodged Shannon for operating a motor vehicle to flee to avoid arrest, refusal of a chemical test, DUI, driving while revoked/suspended, fictitious plates, possession of drug paraphernalia, and possession of open alcohol container.
