LPD: Census workers going door-to-door, be aware of scams

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Monday, The Lincoln Police Department (LPD) want to let the public know that census workers will be going door-to-door, speaking with those who did not responded to the 2020 Census.
They will have an official ID badge, a shoulder bag with the census logo, a laptop, and a tablet. They will be active between 9 a.m. and 9 p.m.
Questions they WILL ask include:
How many people are living in the home?
Are you renting? Or do you own the home?
What is your telephone number?
What is/are your name(s), gender(s), and ethnicity?
Questions they should NOT ask:
What is your social security number?
Anything pertaining to money, donations, or your bank account information.
Anything pertaining to a political party.
Be aware of scams! If you think someone claiming to be a census worker is acting suspicious, call LPD at 402-441-6000.
