LPD: Driver cited after hitting pedestrian in south Lincoln

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A pedestrian was critically injured after they were hit by a car in south Lincoln on Wednesday.
Around 3:45 p.m., officers with the Lincoln Police Department were sent to Pioneers Boulevard between 33rd Street and Nebraska Parkway.
According to an LPD crash report, the driver of a Nissan was heading west on Pioneers when she struck a northbound pedestrian in the crosswalk.
The driver told police she did not see the pedestrian, applied the brakes, and tried to swerve to avoid the pedestrian.
LPD said the pedestrian was taken to Bryan West and is in stable, but life-threatening condition.
The driver was cited for failing to yield to a pedestrian.
Pioneers Boulevard was closed for several hours during the investigation, but reopened around 7:15 p.m.
