LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities are investigating after an explosion caused damage to a Lincoln apartment building.

Lincoln police were called to the building in the 200 block of Adams St. around 2:30 a.m. Monday on reports of possible gunshots heard inside.

When officers arrived, they found broken out windows in the common area and smoke in the air.

Inside, officers found a hole in the floor of a hallway that measured 18 inches deep and six inches wide.

A fire inspector determined a homemade explosive, equivalent to a half-stick of dynamite, caused the damage.

Residents were contacted and officers learned that an explosive had been thrown into the hallway following a disturbance between neighbors.

Police say a ‘disturbance’ between residents preceded the explosion.

No arrests have been made.
