LPD: Man arrested after trying to bring meth into federal building

A man was arrested on drug charges after Lincoln Police say he tried to bring meth into the federal building Wednesday.

Officers found the man, identified by police as Michael Eveland, 39, at the federal building, located at 100 Centennial Mall around 12:30 p.m.

Police said a metal detector alarm went off when Eveland was entering the building, and a security officer saw a bulge in Eveland’s sock. Eveland was told to remove the item, which was a glass pipe with suspected meth residue, police said.

Eveland told officials he was feeling ill and asked for a trash can, which he dropped a clear baggie with meth into, police said.

Eveland was arrested for possession of a controlled substance.
