LPD: Man arrested for Saturday night assault, $20K burglary
An hour after this report, officers received a report from a 28-year-old female who found an unknown man laying down in her yard. The call came from the 1900 block of Prospect St., about three blocks away from the assault report. Responding to the call, Lincoln Police identified the man as Beard and took him into custody. A pipe with methamphetamine residue was found in his pants pocket. As officers began walking Beard toward the cruiser, he began kicking, causing minor injuries to officers.
They found Beard was also wanted for an Aug. 14th burglary, where the suspect entered a home through a window and stole a safe filled with jewelry, coins, and other valuables. After swiping the safe, a vehicle was also stolen from the home, but was thankfully recovered the same day near 54th and Melrose Ave. Regardless, the incident resulted in a 20-thousand dollar loss for the victims. Fingerprint evidence indicated that Beard was responsible. He was also identified as the individual who recently pawned the stolen coins.
Beard was arrested for assault on an officer, possession of a controlled substance, assault, and burglary.
