LPD: Man attempts to cash fake $2,000 check, twice

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Around noon on Thursday, officers with the Lincoln Police Department (LPD) responded to a fraud in progress at Union Bank, 6801 ‘O’ St.
The bank teller said a man had tried to cash a check for more than $2,000, claiming it was a payroll check for a Lincoln business.
The owner of the account was contacted and denied that the man was an employee or that a check had even been written out to him.
The man, identified as 48-year-old Timothy Fantroy Sr., had tried to cash the same check at another Union Bank, 3641 S 48th St, about 20 minutes earlier.
Fantroy was arrested for two counts of 2nd-degree forgery and on an outstanding warrant.
