LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested Monday after an attempted break-in at an east Lincoln fabric store, police say.

Around 11:10 p.m., officers were sent to JOANN Fabric and Crafts near North 66th and O streets after the store’s roof hatch alarm went off.

When officers arrived, they found 44-year-old Gary Johnson Jr. climbing off the roof of the business, according to LPD.

An officer tried to stop Johnson, but he took off on an electric bicycle, police said.

Eventually, officers found Johnson about four blocks from the store and took him into custody.

Police said Johnson was carrying a gun and narcotics.

He was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including attempted burglary and possession of a firearm by a prohibited person.
