Police say the man told city park officials he was practicing his ax work.

A Lincoln man has been ticketed after he cut down a large tree at Holmes Lake Park.
Lincoln Police say 25-year-old Samuel Eskridge went to the office of Parks and Recreation Thursday, to report that he had cut down the tree a few days before.
Eskridge told the department he cut the tree down on Tuesday night around 10 o’clock, and claimed he was practicing his ax work.
The tree was a large Norway Maple tree measuring 54 inches in circumference.
The Department of Parks and Recreation have planted a new tree, which cost a total of $2,100 for the tree and to replace it.
