LPD: Man hospitalized following assault near west Lincoln bus stop

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Police are investigating an aggravated assault in west Lincoln.
Just after 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, officers with the Lincoln Police Department were sent to the bus stop near Southwest 26th and South streets.
Witnesses told officers three people wearing masks assaulted a man when he approached the bus stop by tackling him to the ground, hitting and kicking him, and striking him with a baseball bat.
They then ran to a waiting white SUV at Southwest 27th Street and drove away.
The victim, a 50-year-old Lincoln man, was taken to the hospital with broken ribs, a cut to the top of his head which required staples, severe swelling and bruises.
