LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was arrested early Wednesday morning after being caught with a stolen vehicle in north Lincoln, police say.

The vehicle — a white 2022 Nissan Sentra — was reported stolen from Murphy Motors near Northwest 4th Street and Cornhusker Highway on Monday.

An employee told officers that the thief, later identified as 49-year-old Robert Bures, removed the electric meter, cutting power to the building, police said.

Bures entered the building by breaking a door handle, according to LPD.  A garage door bay was also damaged by a vehicle being driven through it.

At about 12:30 a.m. on Wednesday, an officer patrolling near Adams and Touzalin streets saw a Nissan Sentra matching the description of the stolen vehicle.

The officer followed the vehicle, which had dealer plates from another dealership that was burglarized a day prior, according to police.

Officers put down stop sticks near North 33rd Street and St. Paul Avenue, disabling the front two tires.

The vehicle then drove into a nearby tree line, where Bures got out and ran away, LPD said.

He was found close by, hiding inside another vehicle.

Bures was arrested on suspicion of several charges, including theft, willful reckless driving and possession of burglar’s tools.
