LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man stole a skid loader from a construction site at a Lincoln church early Wednesday morning, police say.

Just after midnight, officers were sent to Sacred Heart Church near 31st and S streets on a report of an auto theft in progress.

The church reported hearing construction machinery starting and then spotted Tyler Forrest, 35, driving off with a skid loader.

The skid loader was from a project underway in the church’s parking lot, according to LPD.

Forrest drove over concrete forms and broke concrete on the sidewalk, causing about $450 in damage, police said.

He then started driving down S Street.

Officers found Forrest a few blocks away and arrested him on suspicion of theft and criminal mischief.

Police said Forrest was not employed by the company working in the parking lot.
