LPD: Man taken to hospital after firework explodes in car

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities say a man was injured after a firework exploded inside a car he was in.

It happened Wednesday around midnight.

Lincoln police say the 28-year-old man was driving with a friend who accidentally lit an artillery shell inside the vehicle.

The man was taken to a local hospital by Lincoln Fire & Rescue in stable condition.

The man’s 29-year-old friend was cited for discharging a firework where prohibited.
