LPD: Man targeting shoppers in string of thefts at Lincoln grocery stores

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Police are searching for a man involved in a string of thefts targeting shoppers at grocery stores across Lincoln.
On Feb. 28, the man entered Super Saver near 56th Street and Nebraska Parkway and took a customer’s wallet out of her purse when she wasn’t looking.
Police said this man is connected to seven other thefts in the Lincoln area dating back to July 2024.
Investigators said the thief typically steals wallets and purses from elderly women in grocery stores.
The victims’ credit cards are then used to buy gift cards, typically at Lululemon, according to police.
The total loss so far is over $6,100.
Police are also seeking a driver who took off after backing into a vehicle at Petro Mart near 23rd and R streets on March 5.
Investigators think the driver was in a 2009-2015 Hyundai Sonata with possible light damage to the rear passenger side.
Anyone with information on either case is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
