LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was caught early Monday morning trying to open a coin machine at a northwest Lincoln car wash, police say.

Around 5:30 a.m., officers were sent to Power Wash near Northwest First Street and West Grand Drive.

The car wash’s surveillance camera captured a man, later identified as 31-year-old Tyler Harvat, trying to break into a coin machine.

When officers arrived, Harvat was “actively” tampering with the machine with a pair of pliers, according to LPD.

He was taken into custody, and officers found a bag that tested positive for amphetamines, meth and fentanyl in his back pocket.

Harvat was arrested on suspicion of possessing burglar’s tools, possession of a controlled substance and criminal mischief.
