Man was speeding before crash that killed 23-year-old Lincoln man, report says

A man involved in a multi-vehicle crash that resulted in the death of a 23-year-old Lincoln man on Friday was speeding, according to a Lincoln Police accident report.

Marvin A. Rivas Villanueva, 20, was accelerating to around 65-70 miles per hour when the rear end of his car began sliding and he lost control of the vehicle, according to the report. Villanueva’s car spun into three other vehicles in the eastbound lanes of O Street near Lyncrest Drive.

His passenger, Jared J. Williams, 23, of Lincoln, was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.

All parties involved in the crash were taken to hospitals, but none suffered serious injuries, Lincoln Police said.

Police said a citation was pending as of Monday morning.
