LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – An officer was injured early Wednesday morning while arresting a man in northeast Lincoln, police say.

Around 12:50 a.m., officers were at Kwik Shop near Touzalin Avenue and Fremont Street responding to a false alarm.

While there, officers spotted 30-year-old Adam Schmidt in a vehicle with fake license plates, according to police.

Officers started a DUI investigation, during which Schmidt was “uncooperative” and tried to get back into his vehicle, LPD said.

He was taken into custody and put in the back of a cruiser.  Schmidt then started kicking the door, police said.

As officers were trying to put Scmidt’s legs in the vehicle, one of the officer’s fingers got stuck in his clothing, causing it to fracture.

Schmidt was arrested on suspicion of terroristic threats.  He was also cited on suspicion of several charges, including third-degree assault on an officer.
