LPD: Officers catch armed burglar in the act

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Around 4 a.m. Monday morning, Lincoln Police caught a burglar in the act.

Neighbors called authorities, saying they heard glass breaking and say one to two people wearing dark clothes enter a house in the 3100 block of S 48th Street.

When officers arrived, they found a man inside, later identified as 25-year-old Bryce Peterson, who began to run. Peterson was caught several blocks away.

A seven-inch fixed blade knife and keys to a blue Ford Fusion was found on Peterson’s person.

The Ford was found parked nearby with the rear driver window broken and missing plates. Inside the car, officers found various construction equipment.

The home was vacant at the time of the break-in. The owner, a 71-year-old man, said his home was being renovated and identified the stolen equipment as his.

Peterson was arrested for burglary, concealing a weapon, and failure to obey the order of police.
