LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – A man was killed Thursday in a shooting inside a gas station near downtown Lincoln, police say.

Just after 11 a.m., officers responded to a report of multiple shots fired at Casey’s near 13th and E streets, Lt. Dustin Romshek said.

When officers arrived, they found two victims who had been shot.  A man had life-threatening injuries and an innocent bystander had non-life-threatening injuries.

Both were taken to a hospital, and the man who suffered life-threatening injuries died, according to police.

LPD said the preliminary investigation and witnesses indicated there was a disturbance between the shooter and the victim in the parking lot before the shooting.

The shooter, who has not been identified, stayed on scene and surrendered his firearm.  He is cooperating with the investigation, police said.

The Casey’s will be closed for an extended period due to the investigation, according to LPD.

Anyone with information is asked to call police at 402-441-6000 or Crime Stoppers at 402-475-3600.
