LPD: Owner loses $6K following garage burglary

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One victim lost an estimated $6,000 after their garage was burglarized.
The incident happened around 9 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 7 in the 4000 block of Randolph Street.
The 41-year-old victim reported numerous tools, a handgun, and a 2000 silver Buick Century had been stolen.
Two days later, investigators spotted the stolen vehicle at a gas station near 33rd and Holdrege Street.
While the driver, 29-year-old Charles Tomes, was being taken into custody, 21-year-old Aryadne Fenin arrived back at the car.
Fenin claimed it was given to them by family members and they’ve been driving it for weeks.
After searching the Buick, investigators found three bags of suspected meth in the console and a backpack with glass pipes, which had meth residue inside.
Lincoln Police say the stolen tools were also found inside the vehicle.
Tomes and Fenin were arrested for theft and possession of a controlled substance.
