LPD: Police dog helps uncover more than 130 pills

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — One police dog helps uncover more than 130 illegal pills during a traffic stop.
Wednesday morning, around 3:30, an officer pulled over a tan-colored vehicle near 68th and Leighton Ave. It is unclear what initiated the traffic stop.
Talking with the driver and passenger, 0fficers noted that their behavior was off so Police Service Dog Jet was brought in.
The passenger also gave Lincoln Police a fake name multiple times. In fact, officers had to use fingerprint technology in order to identify the passenger as 33-year-old Zoe Rena.
While Jet was checking out the vehicle, he indicated the presence of drugs near the passenger’s door. This gave police cause to search the vehicle.
Lincoln Police found a purse that had a syringe, a pipe with meth residue, and two bottles of pills inside. After Rena was escorted to the back of the cruiser, one officer saw she had discarded a syringe cap and a clear bag with over two grams of meth on the car floor.
Rena was later searched at the jail where several pills were found on her person. In total 110 Diazepam pills, 20 Hydrochloride pills, and 2 Amphetamine pills were found.
Rena was arrested on several drug charges. The driver was not arrested.
