LPD: Southeast student who brought loaded gun to school also suspect in car thefts

Lincoln Police have arrested a student accused of bringing a gun to school and stealing cars.
Police say the 15-year-old male was taken into custody Monday after officers met him at Lincoln Southeast High School. Officers found a handgun inside his backpack that was loaded with six bullets, police said.
Through surveillance video and witness testimony, investigators developed him as a suspect in two cases of reported car thefts. Both thefts were reported Sunday.
The juvenile was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm on school grounds, carrying a concealed weapon, unlawful possession of a revolver, theft by unlawful taking, theft by receiving stolen property. He was taken the Youth Attention Center.
Officials say it was determined that no threat was posed to students and staff.
The student has not been identified.
