LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Authorities say a teen taken into custody by task force members on Wednesday was wanted in connection to a drive-by shooting.

After a nearly two-hour standoff, 18-year-old Jaheim Barnes was arrested at an apartment near  SW. 1st and W. A St.

Members of the Fugitive Task Force and Tactical Response Unit used two explosives in an attempt to distract Barnes and get him into custody, officials said.

Police say Barnes was identified as a suspect in a drive-by shooting near 26th and J St. in May.

Investigators attempted to contact Barnes about a week later, but say he ran from a vehicle he was in.

Jail records show Barnes was lodged for unlawful discharge of a firearm and an outstanding warrant.
