LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Authorities are investigating after a family reported being threatened while walking along a bike path.

Lincoln police say a 35-year-old man, his wife and their six-year-old son reported walking on the trail near The Veterans Memorial Garden near 27th and Capital Parkway when they came across two teenagers.

The family reported one of the teens was laying across the path and when they asked him to move the teens followed the family to the Lincoln Children’s Zoo where they confronted them.

At that time, the teens made threatening comments and one of them lifted his hoodie and displayed a handgun tucked in his waistband, police say.

Police say the teens ran away when the man pulled out his phone.

Anyone with information is encouraged to call the Lincoln Police Department at 402-441-6000.
