LPD to host Gun Amnesty Day

gun safety

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Saturday, April 3 is Gun Amnesty Day. From 10 am to 12 pm, Lincoln residents can pick up trigger locks and handgun lock boxes at the LPD Center Team Station, 1501 N 27th St.

Residents are also welcome to drop off unused firearms or ammo. No compensation will be provided for any drop-offs and you do not need to drop off items in order to get a gun lockbox.

All firearms should be transported in the trunk or back seat of a vehicle in an open box, bag, or container. Once at the LPD Center Team Station, tell the person who approaches your car where the firearm is and let them retrieve it.

If you aren’t comfortable unloading your firearm, inform the person picking up your firearm.

Hope LNK will be handing out the gun safety items.
