LPD: Two arrested, intercepted FedEx package

Police have two suspects in custody who they say used one Lincoln woman's shipping address and another Lincoln man's credit card to order a package.
Julie Christiansen was doing some paperwork when she saw something strange out her window. Christiansen noticed a car parked for more than an hour with two people in it. She says, “it was nerve racking just because it was there for so long and then something didn't feel right.”
When a FedEx truck showed up with a package, the two got out of the car to sign for it. Christiansen ran outside and saw her husband's name on the address. That's when the FedEx man also realized something wasn't right and grabbed the package back.
The two sped off, but Christiansen remembered the license plate number and called police. “The police called last night and said they had made an arrest. I was surprised that happened so quickly.”
Officers arrested 25-year-old Jesse Kipf and 20-year-old Persephone Nguyen on suspicion of theft by deception, which is a felony. LPD says the couple used the Christiansen's shipping information and another Lincoln resident's Wells Fargo account to pay for the package. Inside that package were two radar detectors, costing more than $850 charged on the other victim's credit card.
Police believe a “for sale” sign in front of the home may be why suspects targeted. They say the suspects may have thought it was vacant and used the phone number to look up the shipping name and information.
Christiansen has advice for everyone who is selling their home. “If your house is for sale, watch out for suspicious things. Keep your eyes open or if there's someone driving around you don't usually see.”
