LPD: Witness catches burglar in the act

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A 63-year-old witness confronted someone actively cutting padlocks off of storage units.

The incident happened Wednesday night, around 6:30 p.m. at Spare Room Storage, 4101 N 27th St.

When the witness approached the suspect he saw that a lock had been taken off of a unit.

According to Lincoln Police, the suspect gave an excuse as to why he was there before getting into a vehicle and leaving the area.

A few minutes later, officers contacted 45-year-old Jeffrey Blazek, driving the car described by the witness, near 20th and Fairfield.

Police report seeing a grinder in plain view in his car. Upon further investigation, officers found multiple cut padlocks, a stolen chainsaw, and other stolen and suspicious items in his vehicle.

Blazek was arrested on multiple burglary charges.
