LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Public Schools announced three new elementary school principals for Cavett, Humann and Wysong.

“These established school leaders have proven through their service to be dedicated to the success of students,” said LPS Associate Superintendent for Instruction Matt Larson. “We know they will build upon the legacy already established in each building and continue the pursuit of excellence for their students.”

Cavett Elementary School:

Kathleen Dering, the principal at Elliott Elementary School since 2013, will replace Jeff Vercellino at Cavett.  Vercellino was selected by LPS to be the first principal at the new Ada Robinson Elementary School. Dering was previously the principal at Beattie Elementary School and also worked in Oklahoma as a principal, assistant principal and teacher.

Humann Elementary School:

Jamie Cook, the principal at Pershing Elementary School since 2017, will replace Sharon Eickhoff at Humann. Cook previously served as a coordinator, an instructional coach and a teacher at other LPS schools.  Cook takes over for Sharon Eickhoff, who was selected to be the assistant principal at Ada Robinson Elementary School.

Wysong Elementary School:

Stephanie Drake, the principal at Morley Elementary School since 2018, will replace Randy Oltman at Wysong.  Oltman announced his retirement earlier this year.  Drake served as assistant principal at Wysong before coming into her current position.  She also served as a coordinator and teacher at other LPS schools.
