All but 12 LPS schools are now designated as Heart Safe
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Public Schools is working toward its goal of having the entire district designated as Heart Safe.
On Wednesday, Clinton Elementary School completed the final step of becoming a Project ADAM Heart Safe school.
The designation is given to schools that have automated external defibrillators, staff with AED and CPR training, and a practiced emergency plan to respond to a person collapsing.
Last year, Kooser Elementary became the first LPS school to get the designation. Since then, more than 40 LPS schools have become Heart Safe schools.
“We are down to only 12 school sites left, and by the end of April, we hope to have the entire district designated Heart Safe,” said Wendy Rau, the district’s health services supervisor.
Project ADAM has donated 12 new AEDs to LPS this year.
The program is a collaboration with Children’s Nebraska. More information on the program can be found HERE.
