LPS board member Lanny Boswell dies at 54
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Public Schools board member Lanny Boswell has died, the district announced Thursday.
Boswell, 54, died Wednesday after an 18-month battle with oral cancer.
“We mourn the passing of Lanny as a longtime public servant, and an incredibly dedicated school board member,” interim Superintendent John Skretta said in a press release. “The legacy of his many years of service on the board to support LPS students, staff, families and the greater district leaves a remarkable impact that will continue for decades to come.”
Boswell was on the school board for almost 12 years. His third term was set to expire at the end of May.
He served stints as board president and vice president.
Before his time on the board, he was a community volunteer on several LPS committees and was involved with parent-teacher organizations.
Boswell is survived by five children, two grandchildren, his parents, his grandmother and many other relatives.
A visitation is scheduled for Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at Lincoln Memorial Funeral Home near 14th Street and Pine Lake Road.
