LPS cancels preschool for two days amid heat wave
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — Lincoln Public Schools is canceling early childhood classes on Wednesday and Thursday.
Superintendent Paul Gausman cited “unprecedented weather” in a press release Tuesday night.
More than a quarter of the students transported by LPS are preschool students, Gausman said.
“These 850 students are transported during midday and afternoon – the hottest part of the day,” he said. “By canceling early childhood classes the next two days, we are reducing their heat exposure and allow for shorter route times overall.”
