LPS says hiring initiative garnered success as school starts this fall

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- Lincoln Public Schools hosted its last career fair of the summer but said there’s always a need in Lincoln.

After three career fairs this summer, Human Resource Specialist, Jessi Stilwagon says the finale was a success.

“Our classified hiring career fairs this summer have been a new initiative for us a creative way that we could meet with lots of people on the same day, and it has been a great success this summer,” said Stilwagon.

Human Resource Supervisor, Eric Witt, says this last hiring event allowed them to gear up just in time for school this fall.

“I think we’ve seen, you know, across the country that educators have stepped away and either taking a leave from the profession, maybe an early retirement, that’ll be another target group for us to revisit with those candidates,” said Witt.

As the ever-present need continues to expand, Stilwagon says the opportunity to grow within the district grows as well.

“LPS is a great place to be. We appreciate our employees so much. We’re so thankful for everything that our current employees do.”
