LPS school board candidate tapped to fill vacant seat

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Lincoln Public Schools board on Tuesday filled the vacancy left by the death of Lanny Boswell.

The school board appointed Mara Krivohlavek, who was already all but certain to take the seat in less than a month.

Krivohlavek is the only candidate in District 5 in this year’s election.

Boswell opted not to seek reelection. He died on April 9 of oral cancer.

The board voted 6-0 to appoint Krivohlavek, who was sworn in immediately.

Lincoln’s general election is May 6. The winners in the LPS board election will start their terms on May 19.
