Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools encouraging donations for students
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN)- The Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools has an emergency fund, which helps ensure student’s most basic and immediate needs are met.
From 1999 to 2018, the foundation paid out an average of $9,000 each year to help out students in need.
When the pandemic hit, they were able to raise a lot of money due to increased demand.
But the foundation’s president, Wendy Van, says much of those funds have dried up.
“We’re seeing the availability of funds drop dramatically, and you know social workers are feeling it, counselors are feeling it, and families are feeling it,” Van said. “We want to make sure that when kids come to school, they aren’t worried their bellies are not empty, and they’re ready to learn.”
The foundation is now actively raising money. You can donate by going to the foundation’s website.
Officials said donations can also be made to the Foundation for Lincoln Public Schools and mailed to 5905 O St, Lincoln, Neb. 68510.
