LPS students register to vote and help others do the same

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – With the Nebraska primary right around the corner, Lincoln high schools partnered with the Lincoln-Lancaster County Election Commission and the League of Women Voters to help students and staff register to vote.

A few students were deputized as registrars and can now help others register to vote for at least the next three years.

They are hoping to be at games or school gatherings to help more people register to vote.

“I noticed a lot of people aren’t as politically charged as maybe my parents’ generation, so it’s really good to see, like, my friends and my peers and other students here who want to vote and get involved,” Justin Fintel said.

Lincoln Public Schools is holding a competition to see which high school registers the most voters.

The results will be posted on social media after the registration drives are complete.
