LSO: Deputies find 22.5 pounds of meth in secret vehicle compartment

Authorities arrested a California man on drug possession charges after deputies reportedly found nearly two dozen pounds of meth in his vehicle.

Lancaster County Sheriff Terry Wagner said Jose Vazquez-Rios, 41, was stopped Tuesday by deputies near mile marker 396 on I-80.

Deputies discovered an altered compartment under a windshield wiper that contained 22.5 pounds of meth, Wagner said.

Wagner said the bust is one of the biggest in recent memory.

The estimated street value of the drugs is over $2 million.

Wagner said Vazquez-Rios was stopped for following too closely.
