LSO says search for fugitive leads to separate arrest

A 24-year-old Lincoln man was arrested while the Metro Fugitive Task Force was on surveillance for a different fugitive.

According to the Lancaster County Sheriff on Tuesday around 11:20 a.m. the Metro Fugitive Task Force was surveying for a fugitive.

During that time the Task Force notice an unoccupied stolen vehicle and began watching it. 

LSO said a short time later they observed 24-year-old Seth Schwaninger get into the vehicle and drive off. 

Officers ordered Schwaninger to stop, but he got out of the vehicle, started running, and dropped a 9 millimeter handgun. 

Schwaninger was tackled a short distance later by a U.S. Marshall near 14th and F streets and taken into custody.

LSO said Schwaninger suffered multiple broken ribs and a punctured lung when he was tackled. He was taken to the hospital before being released into police custody.
