Lutheran Family Services of Nebraska is settling into its new Lincoln home.
It’s located at 23rd and O street.
Staff spent this weekend through Monday getting things set up for the grand opening Tuesday, May 3rd.
The new building is about 25,000 square feet.
It will allow for the agency to have multiple programs under one roof including some services that were only offered in Omaha.
"We will be really able to offer what we call like to describe as a continuum of care, so clients can get their needs met in one location,” Lutheran Family Service of Nebraska Vice President of Programs Todd Reckling said.
The new space also brings new opportunities.
It will also expand its integrated health program called Health 360.
It’s a partnership with People’s Health
Center to provide both primary care and behavioral help.
The service is for people of all incomes with or without insurance.
Staff said it will help to serve more of Lincoln.
"We’ll be able to serve a lot more people in our community. We’re excited about that. We don’t people to go without care,” Lutheran Family Service of Nebraska Chief Operating Officer Shirley Terry said.
The non–profit thanks the community for all of its support.
The new facility plans to have an early head start and head start program provided by community action.
It’ll be open to more than 50 kids.
Its wing is still under construction, but should be ready later this year.
"We knew this was a great opportunity because of the comprehensive services for the most vulnerable in our community and really that’s the charge of early head start and head start to serve young children and their families who are most in need,” Community Action Partnership Deputy Director Aaron Bowen said.
