Lutheran Schools of Lincoln host inaugural ‘Funtober Fest’

As the weather changes, people like those with the Lutheran Schools in Lincoln are helping others prepare for winter.
Sunday, LSL held a coat drive as part of their ‘Funtober Fest’ event.
“A huge part of what we do in our Lutheran schools is service in the community each of our schools comes up with different activities and events that we do for different organizations so it just was very natural that as we plan this we would be doing something for some organizations in the community as well,” says Kristi Barnhouse, Principal of Faith Lutheran school.
The used coats and collected donations will help support the People’s City Mission and the Foster Care Closet.
Sunday’s Funtober Fest also featured “truck”-or-treating, bounce houses, therapy dogs, face painting and much more. Kids could get up close and personal with Lincoln Police cars and a Lincoln Fire and Rescue firetruck.
Mark L’Heureux, Principal at Christ Lincoln, says the event is just meant to bring the community together and have fun.
“I’m really excited I mean this is the future of lincoln of our communities and of our schools and so it’s just a wonderful time to see them celebrate see them excited and yes get a little bit of candy.”
The inaugural event welcomed over 350 kids and families.
The Lutheran Schools of Lincoln include 5 schools throughout Lancaster County.
