LWS reminds public to protect pipes from freezing
As cold temperatures arriving, Lincoln Water System reminds property owners to protect pipes from freezing.

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lincoln Water System reminds property owners to protect pipes from freezing as colder temperatures arrive.
The most common problems involve non-winterized lawn irrigation systems. Frozen pipes can lead to costly damages or high water water bills according to LWS.
Pipes can freeze in poorly insulated structures, craw spaces, attached garages and cabinets.
LWS recommends precautions including:
- Properly drain and winterize lawn irrigation systems.
- Remove hoses from exterior faucets.
- Heat all areas with plumbing.
