Magic Moments: Grieving Lincoln family grateful for gifts

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — A Lincoln family still mourning the loss of their dad received a helping hand on Thursday.

Sarah Nicholson and her three kids were Union Bank & Trust’s final Magic Moments recipients of the Christmas season.

“We appreciate it so much,” Nicholson said.

Her husband died in March after being diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer.

She said doctors couldn’t do anything because he was riddled with tumors.

Since he died, Nicholson has been struggling to make ends meet. She said she wouldn’t be here without support from family.

“I couldn’t do it without them,” she said with tears in her eyes. “They’re amazing. From helping me get up and get my kids to school on the days when it’s hard to get out of bed to, you know, just supporting us financially.

Each of the kids received a tablet, and one of them got a certificate for art class at the Lux Center for the Arts.

John Henry’s will repair the house’s air conditioning unit.
