Main Lancaster County roads are clear, but gravel roads still snowy
LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – Lancaster County officials are warning drivers of the “snow-packed and very icy” roads outside of Lincoln on Wednesday.
“These are some of the worst conditions that we have seen in a long time,” Lancaster County Engineer Pam Dingman said in an email.
She said snowplows are working to clear roads “as quickly as possible.”
As of Wednesday evening, all major paved roads in Lancaster County have been cleared.
Motor graders will begin clearing the county’s gravel roads at 5 a.m. Thursday.
“Our goal is to get as much snow as possible off the gravel roads prior to tomorrow night’s forecast rain. We are concerned that these conditions may lead to soft or muddy gravel roads,” Dingman said.
She also said there were “a lot” of abandoned cars along county roads.
