Mainly dry and quiet heading into New Year’s Day
We will start the new year with mainly dry and quiet conditions. Areas of patchy fog are possible early Friday morning, before we see clearing in the early afternoon. Temperatures will warm heading into New Year’s weekend, before cooling New Year’s Eve and New Year’s Day.
Friday overall will be a slightly warmer day, we gradually warm into the upper 30s by the afternoon.
Friday high temperatures will be a few degrees above normal. Many SE counties will see highs in the upper 30s and lower 40s.
Wind chills will reach the upper 20s and lower 30s. It will feel nearly 10 degrees cooler than actual temperatures.
A few lingering clouds are likely early on Friday morning. The cloud cover quickly moves east, leaving mostly sunny skiers by the early afternoon.
The quiet and dry weather will take us into the new year. High temperatures will briefly warm above normal, before a cold front cools us below average starting New Year’s Eve.
